If you are seeking to renew your appearance and turn back the clock on signs of aging, we may be able to assist you. At The South Florida Skin Center we are proud to offer Thread Lifts as a way of rejuvenating your skin with PDO threads.

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that subtly lifts facial tissue and encourages collagen production for a more voluminous and youthful appearance. PDO stands for polydioxanone, which is a very flexible and durable absorbable surgical thread.

A thread lift is an effective way to lift sagging or loose skin. Ideal candidates include those with minimal signs of aging who do not wish to undergo a more intensive procedure such as a face or neck lift.

The most commonly treatable areas include the brows, cheek, jowls, and neck. However, it can be performed on other areas such as the upper arms, abdomen, thighs, and knees.

How Does a PDO Thread Lift Work?

On the day of your procedure, the area will be disinfected and numbed with a local anesthetic for patient comfort. A small incision is made as the threads are inserted into the area by use of a thin cannula. The PDO threads are repositioned, grasping onto soft tissue into an ideal position, and then are cut once secured.

Depending on the desired effect, several sutures may be used.

Recovery

Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are to be expected following the procedure. We recommend patients avoid touching the area excessively during the first week of recovery. Strenuous activities should be avoided for a minimum of two weeks and patients should sleep with their heads propped up to avoid rolling onto the treated area throughout the night. Patients are encouraged to avoid alcohol, direct sunlight, or extreme cold for several days after treatment.

Depending on your procedure, we may even recommend a soft food or liquid diet for several days.

Results

Patients may experience mild swelling, redness, and bruising after treatment; however, the results of the procedure are immediate. They continue to improve for several months as your skin heals and procedures more collagen.

The length of the results will vary, but patients should expect results to last anywhere from six to nine months. This is a temporary procedure but can be repeated to maintain results.
